Michael Showalter made a very funny new video for Atom.com that I’m in. You can watch it right here:

I did a reading at the Russian Samovar of Vladimir Sorokin’s Day of the Oprichnik (a novel about a futuristic, somewhat dystopian Russia — which is not dissimilar to what Russia might actually become) as part of FSG’s monthly series. It was a nice time with lots of flavored vodka’s (dill and horseradish and pomegranate mostly). When reading there were handfuls of words that I couldn’t figure out if they were Russian words I didn’t know or made-up futuristic Russia words — the answer? — both! Here’s a little blurb about the night from some blog-thing. It’s so accurate about what happened, that I think it might simply be a reprinted press release (since most articles tend to get something factually wrong, so I find it suspicious that this did not):

Here’s a super-funny clip of Kristen on The Daily Show talking about new abortion and rape laws (proposed by cold-hearted legislators) with an intensity and humor normally reserved for weekend documentaries on MSNBC.

I am doing a show in Aspen — a great place to buy a nice $450,000 fossil slab (you can use it as a desk or giant heavy thing!) on 1/30 with John Wesley Harding,Colson Whitehead, Juliana Hatfield, Evan Dando, Paul Muldoon, and Michael Arthur. Here’s an article about the show from the Aspen Daily News.

A comedian asked me “If I were to send you a video of me doing stand up comedy, would you give me tips?” My response below:

I’ve been answering fans’ questions on VYou. Why? Becuase it’s very easy and been fun. I’ll probably do this until I become busy or confused. There are lots of questions up for you to scroll through. Originally, I did this as an interview for Flavorpill, but now, you can ask stuff as well. Here’s the answer to a random question involving statues:

Normally I wouldn’t post an article about Jon, because once he finds out that I did this, he’ll write a one-man show called “Why Did Eugene Post the Article About Me From the AP?”, rent out Carnegie Hall and perform it there to around 600 comedians and awkward fans. Still, when I read the quote below from Jonathan Katz, it made me laugh, so I thought I’d post the whole article:
The whole article. If you see Jon on the street, definitely tell him you saw this article, it will brighten his day.

I think this is pretty cool. I know some people are upset, because robots have no hearts, which means 1) they can’t tell jokes from their real life experiences and 2) can’t get arrested for saying “cocksucker” in 1961. Though I very much look forward to the standup comedy of robots once they finally rebel against being a proletariat class in 2082, until then, enjoy a TED talk from Heather Knight who made a neat thing:
